Functional Diploma

That's me completed my last weekend of my Functional Diploma through Faster Fitness! The course has been great and taught me some totally different ways to think about training. The course has given me a deeper understanding of how to create movement so that I can train my clients in a more functional way which has given me so many more options! I also met some great people along the way and I'm very happy to be part of the Faster Family. Being involved in the course has created so many opportunities for me to progress my knowledge within the industry and allowed me to find others who have the same passion for the industry. I can't wait to implement this knowledge into my training with clients, so if you are looking for a unique way to train whether your goal is weight loss, rehabilitation or even sports specific to improve performance this is the way to train!

Welcome to my new blog, Sarah Peffer Fitness.

As one of Glasgow's leading freelance Functional Trainers, I decided to start this blog as a way of keeping all of my clients up to date with what I'm up to.

I'm constantly updating my training with specialist courses, and in addition to one on one personal training, I can also be found teaching classes at several of Glasgow's top gyms.

In addition to all of that, I like to keep informed and involved with all of the latest advancements within the fitness industry, and will use this blog to discuss anything I think relates to my clients.

What is a Functional Trainer?

Personal Training has become a household concept, but for those not in the industry, the term 'Functional Trainer' might not be so familiar.

In simple terms, a Functional Trainer is the next step up from a Personal Trainer, in terms of qualifications, knowledge and experience. This doesn't mean that we are only to be found training top athletes! It just means that we are so passionate about providing the best personal training for our clients, that we have continued our education to an advanced level in order to provide a better and more effective service to our clients.

A Functional Trainer improves a client's function and performance by assessing movement sequences at every joint, and muscle reactions.

In simple terms, this means that we will initially assess your body and how it works, then with corrective techniques, we will work with you to improve weak areas and optimize the overall performance of your body as a whole. Following this, your personal goals, be it weight loss, toning, rehabilitation from injury - will be met as a natural progression.

As a client, you can come to me with either a general or specific request. I have clients who just want to lose weight, tone up and improve their overall fitness; I have clients recovering from surgery or illness; and I have clients who simply want to improve their golf swing!

Functional Training is the most effective way to work out, no matter what your situation.
